The Alaska Board of Game is voting today on a large package of proposed hunting regulation changes affecting Southcentral Alaska including adding more moose hunting opportunities on the lower Kenai Peninsula.

Several proposals have called for a draw hunt, perhaps offering as many as 200 any-bull  moose tags, in that area. Testimony from advocates this week suggested that not only does the area have too many bull moose, but that there’s vast demand to hunt those animals.

The meetings are open to the public at the Anchorage Sheraton Hotel, and all testimony and votes are streamed live and open to the public.

Other proposals up for vote including changes in the rules on flying and hunting Dall sheep the same day, as well as change to allow more bear hunting opportunities close to Anchorage.
