(Homer) – The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has sent out a reminder to reminder youth-anglers that due to the sport fishing regulation closures on the Anchor and Ninilchik rivers and Deep Creek drainages, the Youth-Only Ninilchik River King Salmon Fishery which was scheduled for Wednesday, June 6, 2018, is closed.

During the 2018 season, youth anglers have additional opportunities to participate in Southcentral Youth-Only Fisheries. Anglers 15 years and younger can participate in any of the following 2018 Southcentral Youth-Only Fisheries:

  • Ship Creek in Anchorage on June 16 (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
  • Eklutna Tailrace in Palmer on June 16 and August 18 (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
  • Fish Creek in Wasilla on August 4 and 5 (5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily)
  • Seward Lagoon and Lagoon outfall stream on June 15-17July 6-8August 24-26, and September 7-9
  • Nick Dudiak Fishing Lagoon in Homer on August 4
