While most anglers are either digging the ice augers or putting off thinking about fishing until April, there are some important discussions this month that could affect Alaska fishing for the coming season.

A number of fish and game advisory committees will meet this month to discuss and consider whether to support or oppose pending regulation changes for both hunting and fishing.

The meetings are all open to the public and are a great place for fishermen and hunters to have input on future regulation changes.

 The Mat Valley Fish & Game Advisory Committee will meet on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 7 pm at the MTA building, located at 480 Commercial Drive, Palmer.  Agenda will include continued discussion on Board of Game Central/SW Region proposals beginning with Proposal 84, and any other business that may properly come before the committee.  For more information contact Herb Mansavage at 841-8928.

 The Anchorage Fish & Game Advisory Committee will meet on Tuesday, January 9 at 6:30 pm at the Rabbit Creek Rifle Range located at 15222 Seward Hwy.   Agenda includes preparing recommendations on the Central/SW Region BOG proposals, hear a report from the BOF PWS meeting, and any other business that may properly come before the committee.  For more information contact Frank Neumann at 529-0892.

 The Homer Fish & Game Advisory Committee will hold an election meeting on Tuesday, January 9 at the KBRR building, located at 2181 Kachemak Drive at 6 pm.  The election is for five seats that will expire 6/20, and up to two one year alternate seats that will expire 6/18.  Any other business that may properly come before the committee will also be discussed.  For more information contact Dave Lyon at 399-2340.

The Denali Fish & Game Advisory Committee will hold an election meeting on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 7 pm at the Cantwell School, located at Mile 1 Denali Highway.  Also on the agenda will be discussion of Board of Game Central/SW Region proposals, and any other business that may properly come before the committee.  For more information contact Don Holum at 768-2900.

 The Cooper Landing Fish & Game Advisory Committee will hold an election meeting on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Community building located at Mile point 0.8 Bean Creek Road at 12 noon.  Also on the agenda will be discussion of BOG Proposal 155 antlerless moose reauthorization, a Southcentral Region BOG proposal, prepare comments on BOF Statewide shellfish proposals, and any other business that may properly come before the committee.  For more information contact George Heim at 599-2000.

 The Copper Basin Fish & Game Advisory Committee will hold an election meeting on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 5pm at the Glennallen High school library located at 1976 Aurora Dr.   Agenda will also include Central/Southwest Region BOG proposal comment preparation, GMU 13 proposals and antlerless moose reauthorizations.  For more information contact Alysia White at 822-4174.
