Bobby Savino made Saltwater Safari’s first season of the year on the Renegade and found solid keepers for the whole boat.  The popular Seward charter outfit will be running early season specials for a few weeks including at least one overnight trip.  For more info 907-224-5232.

Capt. Shane Blakely of Homer’s Driftwood Charters has been getting nice halibut and some bonus kings, including a 140-pounder slab on Saturday.

Almost the minute the last of the ice left Valley streams, flyfishermen were finding nice rainbows and that trend should continue in the coming weeks.

The upper Kenai is closed until June 11, but below Skilak Lake it is open for early run kings and predictions are for a better-than-average 6500 fish run.  New regulations limit harvest to one king per day less than 36 inches, with single hooks and no bait.
