SE Ak Chinook Crisis Seminar

Juneau’s Territorial Sportsmen is hosting a seminar Thurday, April 13 “Taku and Chilkat Chinook Salmon Crisis–Status, Management and Research of Chinook Salmon of Northern SE Alaska.
The program is a followup to a similar seminar in 2015, intended to increase public awareness on the conditions that have forced a closure on sport and commercial fishing for king salmon in the southeast this spring.

s of the forces at work and challenges in managing the Taku and Chilkat native runs of king salmon. Topics include: current salmon stocks; marine migration and mortality of these fish; management plans for both rivers; impacts of Southeast hatcheries; and possible new solutons.
Speakers will be representing ADF&G, NOAA and the DIPAC Hatchery.
The program is free begins at 630 p.m. at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center.
