DESCRIPTION:Juneau’s Territorial Sportsmen is hosting a seminar Thurday\, April 13  “Taku and Chilkat Chinook Salmon Crisis–Status\, Management and Research of Chinook Salmon of Northern SE Alaska. \nThe program is a followup to a similar seminar in 2015\, intended to increase public awareness on the conditions that have forced a closure on sport and commercial fishing for king salmon in the southeast this spring. \nOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA \ns of the forces at work and challenges in managing the Taku and Chilkat native runs of king salmon.  Topics include: current salmon stocks; marine migration and mortality of these fish; management plans for both rivers; impacts of Southeast hatcheries; and possible new solutons. \nSpeakers will be representing ADF&G\, NOAA and the DIPAC Hatchery. \nThe program is free begins at 630 p.m. at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center. \n
