The second meeting of the Alaska Sport Fishing Association for the 2017-2018 period is Tuesday October 10, 6:30 p.m., Denny’s restaurant, corner of Benson & Denali. All meetings are open to the public.
ASFA is a Statewide public service organization working to improve the quality of Alaska fisheries for the sport and personal use/subsistence fisherman.
We exist to bring those people together to protect, enhance and improve the Alaskan Fishing Experience. We draw upon our members for insights, information, tips and ideas that will improve that experience. Objectives include public education about the fisheries resource as a whole, fisheries quality enhancement which includes improved access, fish population enhancement by various means, conservation and remediation of habitat, youth education and to help guide stewardship of the Alaska fishing.
Any member of the public may become a member at this meeting and participate in the November 14 Officer Elections.
Those interested in running for President, Vice President, Secretary/ Treasurer should attend and be prepared to indicate why they are interested and wish to be considered for one of those positions. ASFA will also elect/appoint ASFA Chapter Directors for Anchorage, Mat-Su, JBER, Fairbanks, Kenai, Homer and Seward.
Project Directors are needed for the following initiatives:
Integration, to integrate other organizations into ASFA to increase influence with the BOF and the State Legislature
Leadworks, a fundraising project
Membership
Board of Fish Proposals
Ship Creek Cleanup and Enhancement Director
