The string of Alaska bear maulings continues.
Sharing this breaking news from KTVA Television on another bear attack near Anchorage:
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game says a pair of cyclists encountered a bear on JBER Saturday morning.
Authorities say the pair came across a brown bear with cubs while cycling on a main gravel road near Clunie Lake.
The cyclists used bear spray to fend off the sow, but one cyclist was “knocked down and roughed up,” according to Fish and Game.
The cyclist who deployed the bear spray says they didn’t see the bear until she came charging towards them from the woods.
While the bear spray stopped the attack, the cyclist says the sow hung around. That’s when, he says, they saw a cub in a tree and they slowly left the area.
The male victim is in the hospital and expected to make a full recovery
