The Alaska Board of Game is meeting in Anchorage this weekend, taking up a range of Southcentral and Kenai Peninsula hunting proposals.
This weekend the board is taking public testimony, and is likely to begin voting on proposals Sunday afternoon.
More moose hunting options and changes lead the discussion, including several to increase bull moose hunting options in unit 15C and unit 7, through a variety of means.
“We’ve got too many moose, which is a good problem to have,” one speaker testified Saturday morning, advocating that the bull-to-cow ratio is more than double the “normal” 20-100, and asking for more any-bull opportunities instead of restrict current antler regulations.
Another proposal would allow scouting for Dall sheep by plane during hunting season, eliminating restrictions on private pilots now.
